A teammate likes to say you find derby when you need it. I found it in 2017, the year after this nonsense happened the first time. Devastating as it is that we are here again 8 years later, it means everything to know I have a place I can always go to feel strong and help make others feel strong. If in the coming weeks and months you find you need more than your usual methods of coping and community, search "roller derby + [your city]." You are not too old, too small, too big, too angry, too awkward, too shy, too anything. Join a team. Claim your strength. Find your people. We are here and we are ready to brace you. -V
